8065 - Mini Container Truck
8065 - Mini Container Truck

This container truck set 8065 with just over hundred parts has just 2-in-1 features. It seems though Lego has its own strategy of dripping new designs into circulation. Just a year later with set 9390 - Mini Tow Truck steering was introduced for small sets. Steering would have made this set a bit more playable to my opinion. Still a nice set with some cross theme usage of the 'Tipper bed' from Lego city and creative usage of an engine part the 'Light Bluish Gray Technic Engine Crankshaft' as hooks to pick-up and release the container or just tip it to empty it. Besides the level of detail for this set is stunning when you take a closer look. Even seats are suggested by the two upright Blue Technic, Liftarms Thin 1 x 3, the headlights and the roof overhang against direct sunlight that could blind the driver. Personally I am always font of the small sets and how much Lego manages to cramp into them. On top this set has a second model a tow truck.

Features

Tipper

At the roof of the cabin there is a Black Technic, Gear 12 Tooth Double Bevel to raise and pick-up the container. This is directly connected to another Black Technic, Gear 12 Tooth Double Bevel at the other end of the axle and is connected with another one to distribute the drive perpendicular to a Light Bluish Gray Technic, Gear Worm Screw. This one in turn drives a Dark Bluish Gray Technic, Gear 8 Tooth, which drives the booms on both sides of the container. This is a clever mechanism. When you start raising the booms the container tips. So you can empty it of the debris.

When you start raising the booms the container tips and if you continue the booms pushes the container to the ground so you can release it from the truck. The little Light Bluish Gray Technic Engine Crankshafts on both sides function as hooks so after the container is filled with debris, you can pick it up again to bring the garbage to the dump.
