After the big Unimog set (8110 - Mercedes-Benz Unimog U 400) from a year earlier this one is an enjoyable smaller set with steering and a hoist. Small as it is it has the unique recognizable feat of the Unimog cabin and orange color. The fun with these little sets are the creative constructions or mechanisms to fit as much as possible in the limited space. These compact sets give always a pleasure to build and learn new construction ideas. The steering for example is very small and this size was introduced in the set 8066 - Off-Roader with an excentric wheel and lever. This steering solution is even smaller with only a mechanism of levers and a HOG steering. The hoist is sturdy enough to pull some serious weight out of a ditch! A fun set to get acquainted with Lego technic.

This is a compact little truck with a similar steering. The joy of small sets is ingenuity in small mechanisms. The same for the steering, without any gears only a set of levers and HOG. With this construction you can easily drive the corners and manouver the truck in place to tow away the debry. |

Although a small set the hoist is still sturdy and easy to operate. To avoid it unwinds while pulling your cargo there is a break mechanism with another 8 tooth gear on a axle-pin with friction. This works like a charm. |
